Having the gastric banding procedure literally saved my life. My blood pressure and cholesterol are now under control without medication. I’ve added years to my life. Before the procedure, I couldn’t walk. I was confined to a motorized wheelchair. Now, I can do all the physical activities with my 12-year-old son that I had been missing out on. Surgical weight loss gave me my life back.

I was 59 years old and had been gaining 5-7 pounds per year despite working out regularly. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, was diabetic, and according to my wife had sleep apnea, although never diagnosed.
Immediately after the surgery, I was no longer diabetic, nor did I have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, and I no longer had sleep apnea, according to my wife.
Approximately three years later, I had open heart surgery for heart valve replacement and double-bypass. Instead of being a morbidly obese person of over 350 pounds, assuming a 5-7 pound increase per year, I had successful surgery at a healthy 200 pounds.
I have maintained my weight loss for just shy of seven years and feel great.
