Welcome to Dr. Jefferson Vaughan’s general surgery website. Dr. Vaughan offers a wide range of general surgical procedures along with bariatric surgery in conjunction with the Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida.
Dr. Vaughan has extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery and with that experience comes a lower than average complication and mortality rate for his practice. While stationed in Japan with a US Naval Hospital, Dr. Vaughan lectured extensively at Yokohama City University Hospital and Tokyo University Medical School on advanced Laparoscopic surgical applications. He also performed a first of its kind GERD surgery in Japan.
Dr. Vaughan takes a special interest in laparoscopic or minimally invasive procedures and depending on the patient, he performs these surgical procedures laparoscopically or traditionally (open). Laparoscopic techniques, in addition to having very high success rates, offer several benefits over traditional open surgery including smaller incision marks and scarring, less blood loss and shorter hospital and home recovery time.
